I grew up on a farm in central Minnesota, where I developed a deep love for nature and animals that continues to ground me today. Simple pleasures like walking by a nearby creek, listening to the birds sing, and being surrounded by nature feed my soul and bring me peace. Whether I’m out in the garden, kayaking, doing some yoga, or cross-country skiing, these moments help me stay present, replacing stress with a sense of joy and wonder.
My path to becoming a therapist wasn’t a straight one. I started with a career in computer science, where I spent seven years in programming. As much as I enjoyed logic and problem-solving, I realized that computers, unlike people, would do whatever you told them. The challenge faded, and I found myself looking for something more meaningful. After a few years as a stay-at-home mom, meeting all kinds of people, I felt drawn to work with people instead of computers. That’s when I returned to school and found my true passion in psychology. Teaching psychology for nine years was fulfilling, but eventually, I wanted to connect with people on a deeper level, which led me to clinical work.
Now, as a therapist, I get to help women like you build healthier relationships with emotions, understanding them as guides rather than obstacles. I get to help women rediscover their self-worth, and then identify and advocate for their needs with confidence instead of apologies. I get to help them find a sense of control in life—not through managing others, but by staying grounded in themselves.
As someone who identifies as a highly sensitive introvert (HSP), I’ve learned the importance of self-care through nutritious food, varied physical activities, mindfulness, and nurturing relationships, balanced with time alone. These practices not only help me stay grounded but also inform my approach to therapy. I know firsthand the power of slowing down, taking time for yourself, and finding small joys in everyday life, and I bring that perspective into my work with clients.
If you’re navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, life transitions, or struggling with perfectionism, I understand how overwhelming it can be. My personal journey has taught me the value of patience, self-compassion, and finding joy in the little things, and I’m here to support you as you find your way through these challenges. Together, we’ll work on connecting with the present moment, managing stress, and building a life that feels balanced and fulfilling.
